Last year January 1st found us in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico living in our little casita high in the hills above Banderas Bay and the city below. The first quarter of 2010 marked the birth of Scout & Catalogue, a certain someone turning 30 and grasping the true meaning behind the word 'hosts' as most of our friends and family escaped North America's cold winter and paid us a visit. We spent our days off work exploring the nearby communities of Yelapa, Sayulita, Buscerias and San Sebastian and never ceased to be amazed that beach days were possible year round. We had been living in Mexico for 9 months already and had no idea if or when we would return to Canada.
These photos are so beautiful, and a little jealousy inducing on a cold January day in Canada - ha! I can totally see how your time there has influenced Scout & Catalogue, the colours, textures and vibe are perfect. Congrats on a fruitful and successful year!
ah! I'll say it a million times how much I loooove your images from Mexico :)
The image of your casa with the flags and you sitting at the picnic table - don't think I've seen? I always imagined what the whole exterior of your crib looked like. So cute and the mosaics! sigh.
no kidding on the tans! wow, your casita looks simply wonderful (or wonderfully simply). beautiful images, i can tell you loved it there. my man & i hope to honeymoon in mexico, any recommendations? happy new year
yes! don't do an all-inclusive!! If you are thinking near PV definitely choose Sayulita instead and make sure to eat (in PV) at least once at the Hacienda San Angel. If you are looking into Mexico at large - San Miguel De Allende, Guanajuato, Oaxaca City and Puerto Escondido are also major favourites. Don't be afraid of what the media says about the country - with a bit of common sense you'll have a great time...
I just returned from my first trip to Mexico (Tulum region, south of Cancun) and it was amazing! We stayed at an all-inclusive, but managed to escape most days by taxi to explore. I can't wait to go back. It sounds like your time there was such an incredible experience! If I had friends there, I think I would visit as often as I could, too.
